Just a Few of Our 3500 Stories

gradWe are proud that the Cammack-Marshall fund has helped over 3500 children since our founding. In addition, 99 cents of every dollar donated to our Fund goes directly to the children we serve. Here are just a few of the children we’ve helped over the years.

shyNaomi was diagnosed with a sleeping disorder when she was ten years old. Doctors recommended a therapeutic bed—with a $1200 price tag that insurance would not cover. With the Fund’s help, Naomi is able to get the sleep that is so crucial to emotional, intellectual and physical well-being.

computer Tichelle was a dedicated student who could not quite translate her hard work into higher grades. Teachers suggested tutoring to support Tichelle’s efforts—but the cost was too steep for her foster family to take on. A gift from the Fund matched the family’s investment, and made the tutoring available.

doctorTamara is a young musician who moved to a new school that did not have an instrument loan program, which meant she could not pursue her love of playing the clarinet. The Fund provided Tamara with her own clarinet, and made it possible for her to join her middle school’s band.

soccer Michael is a die-hard soccer enthusiast, but didn’t have the equipment needed to participate in the game. With gear provided by a gift from the fund, Michael now plays regularly in his local league.

dentistJose suffered from severe dental problems that affected his health and had devastating effect on a 16-year-old’s self-esteem. The Fund provides ongoing dental care to address his issues, helping Jose’s health, well-being, and confidence.

teenBenny was in a violent living situation, but had managed to work hard in school and find a good job despite it. Reaching his 18th birthday, he felt ready to move to an apartment close to a sister and pursue an independent life, but while he could afford the monthly rent, the initial deposit was beyond his means. The Fund provided the deposit needed to launch Benny into the next chapter of his life.

horsesFrom horse camp tuition to help an emotionally abused child learn to trust to a computer to help a sibling group excel at school to life-changing therapeutic counseling, the Fund addresses needs on a child-by-child basis, supporting kids in ways that will make the greatest difference in their lives.
